I have more than 20 years of experience in education, teaching students from a wide range of backgrounds throughout Southern California. I currently teach chemistry at a private Catholic school in Los Angeles and hold a Master of Arts in Education, along with California teaching credentials in Chemistry, Geoscience, Physics, and Theater. My experience includes teaching middle school science and mathematics, as well as high school Biology, Honors Biology, Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, Algebra I, and Geometry. I have also supported students with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and specific learning disabilities. This breadth of experience has taught me how to adapt my instruction to each student’s learning style while maintaining clear academic goals, building confidence, and ensuring a strong understanding of the material.
Teaching Methodology
I use Socratic questioning to keep students actively engaged and help them develop the ability to reason through problems independently. Rather than simply providing an answer, I ask targeted questions that reveal what a student already understands and where additional clarification may be needed. I break complex scientific concepts and multi-step mathematical procedures into clear, manageable parts before helping students connect those pieces to understand the larger concept. Throughout each lesson, I adjust my pace and explanations to the student’s needs and check for genuine understanding before moving forward. My goal is not only to complete the immediate assignment, but also to build lasting skills, confidence, and independence.
