Kids love learning from our tutors

Let’s be honest: Elementary school content isn’t very difficult. Students learn basic reading and writing skills, arithmetic and other mathematics, and some history and science. Almost any tutor can understand the material. What K-5 students need from a tutor is patience and experience. A great K-5 tutor will be able to keep a young student focussed and productive, while still keeping the child interested and happy to be learning. This is the benefit of hiring a great tutor—like the ones at TutorNerds—over just using a workbook or flashcards. This also frees up time and energy for the parent, leaving more of it for family time and fun.

How our tutoring produces results

The key to academic success—at any age—is confidence. And that’s what young students feel when they get results from school. Even if school seems boring to them, the fact is all students want to feel like they’re a winner. They want to be smart. It’s about more than just good grades. TutorNerds tutors understand this about K-5 kids. Your tutor will help your child be focussed and motivated. This is vital for building habits, skills, and confidence that will benefit your child for years to come.

Available Online and In Person

Online Tutoring

Online tutoring occurs via our convenient online lesson space. This is private tutoring (in real-time) just like having an in-person session—but it occurs remotely! Our online lesson space is easy to use and requires NO extra software. All the tools and features you need are built in: a virtual whiteboard, a text editor, a code editor, screen sharing, file sharing, and more. Both you and your tutor can use the tools simultaneously in real time, so it’s just like you were sitting together at a desk!

In-Person Tutoring

Our in-person tutoring occurs at your home or at a convenient location. You can choose any productive study space near you, such as a library or coffee shop. We’ll schedule a session at a time and place that’s ideal for you, and your tutor will commute to you! Your tutor can re-teach the material just like a classroom teacher—but in a way that’s optimal for student comprehension.

What happens during a tutoring session?

Every student is different and every student has different academic needs. Therefore there is no set structure for a session with a TutorNerds tutor. However, here are some of the things you can expect:

Assess the student’s strengths and weaknesses (usually only during the first session)
A thorough review of the current material
Help completing and understanding homework assignments
Planning and preparing for the next test or quiz
Previewing upcoming class material
Overall organization, study skills, and productivity
