Experience
I've been tutoring since I was a student myself, helping my family, friends, school, and local community. I've also tutored people in a variety of locations, including Korea, Japan, California, and Texas.
My best accomplishment is helping my sister get A's in Math throughout her school career, helping her improve her SAT score from 1100 to 1400, and helping her get into University of Texas, Austin.
Teaching Methodology
The best teaching advice I have gotten is to "assume competency." Expectations make everything, so I only offer to make high expectations for students no matter what, to help them flourish beyond themselves.
I also believe that mistakes and failures are inevitable, what matters is when they happen. It is better to make mistakes during practice, than during the final exam. I'll allow all of my students to make as many mistakes with me, so that they won't in the future beyond me.
Why Choose Dan?
Knowing Math does not mean one knows how to teach Math, I knew many professors that can attest to that. Luckily I know both having transferred from a Mathematics major to Education to focus on pedagogy rather than material.
Other Interests
I enjoy video games, film, reading, and finding ways to connect Mathematics to everything.
