I’ve been tutoring for over 6 years, working with students from elementary school through college in English, Biology, Chemistry, and Statistics. I’ve helped kids who were struggling to meet grade-level standards not only catch up but perform above their grade level. I also volunteer as a tutor with an organization that offers free tutoring to children facing housing insecurity, because I believe in the importance of education and giving students the resources they need to succeed. I enjoy being there for students throughout their learning journey, helping them find what sparks their curiosity and supporting them as they grow!
Teaching Methodology
My teaching methodology is based on active learning, with a focus on ensuring that students truly understand the material and can confidently apply what they learn in their classes. I begin each lesson by asking questions to understand where the student is. From there, I explain the concept in a clear and approachable manner, making sure their foundation is strong before moving forward. We then work through practice problems together before I have the student tackle increasingly challenging problems independently. Throughout each lesson, I ask questions and incorporate active learning strategies to encourage students to think critically, explain their reasoning, and engage with the material rather than simply memorize it. I also adapt my teaching methods to each student’s individual learning style, incorporating visuals, examples, or other tools when they are most helpful. Above all, my approach is to meet each student where they are and help them grow from there. I truly believe that every student has the potential to succeed, and my goal is to help them build both the knowledge and confidence they need to be successful in their courses.
